What Is Your Gifting?

Matthew 25 starting at verse 14, tells the parable of the talents. The man called his servants to him and gave them each a certain number of talents. One he gave 5, to another 2, and to another 1. It then tells the story of what was done by each servant with the talent that was given to them. Here, the talents were discussed as money, but it was a representation of the gifts that the Lord has instilled in each one of us. Talent means a special natural ability or aptitude. Notice, it says special natural ability. The Lord has given each of us a special natural ability to be used to grow the kingdom of God, and each of us has an assignment that the Lord expects to be accomplished. As believers, we are all members of the body of Christ, and each member has a specific function. We are all called to be ministers of reconciliation, but there are special natural abilities that have been given to each of us that will distinguish our specific purpose in the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12 talks about the unity and diversity in one body, and you need to read verses 12 through 26. Let's look at verses 27 through 30. The Word says 'Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?' The reason we have each been given different gifts is for the work of the ministry. What is the work of the ministry? The Ministry of reconciliation. Each one of us has a specific natural ability that God has instilled in us to be able to reach those who He has purposed for us. We will answer to Him for what we have done with what was given to us. Have we used what He gifted us with or have we been like the one servant who was afraid and just hid the talent in the ground and did nothing for his lord? What is your gifting?
