This week, we discussed that the word that God speaks will happen (Isaiah 55:11). God never speaks an idle, or lazy, empty word. Whatever proceeds out of the mouth of God has an assignment. Words spoken are seeds planted, and we are all sowing seeds and they are either love or hate, unselfishness or vanity, joy or discouragement. We can build up or totally destroy, all with our words. James 3:6-11 (NKJV) says 'And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man (here, man means unregenerate, unsaved) can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter form the same spring?' It takes a close walk with Jesus, a daily study of the Word of God, and a yielding to the Holy Spirit to be able to live a life of purity and soundness of speech. What we put in will eventually come out our mouth. We will have what we say so let's speak what the Word of God says. Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV) says 'Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.' Let's all be a light in the darkness, and let's all start by speaking words of life! Psalm 145:21 (NKJV) says 'My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh shall bless His holy name forever and ever.'
