We learned this week that according to John 15 that Jesus is the vine and God the Father is the vinedresser. Any branch in Christ that does not bear fruit is taken away, and every branch that does bear fruit, it gets pruned to be able to produce more fruit. We also learned that we need to abide in, or stay in Christ to be able to bear much fruit. The pruning process is not to hurt us, or make things impossible; it is to show that Jesus Christ is Lord and that we can do nothing without Him. The pruning process is the cutting away of unwanted parts of a plant for more fruitful growth and shaping. It's part of the process for us to be conformed to Jesus Christ. Then we discussed that Jesus is the only way to God. We read this in John 14:6, where Jesus said 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.' There is no other way to the Father, no other way for salvation, no other way to get to heaven except through Jesus Christ. Period! We also discussed about how we have been crucified with Christ. The old man has been put to death and buried and we have been born again and made a brand new creature in Christ! But we must renew our minds, and this comes by reading the Word of God on a regular basis. Romans 12:2 says 'And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.' Transform means to change, and our thinking must be changed to line up with God's way of thinking. This only comes about by the Word of God. We must stay in the Word, seek God's face by prayer, which is communing with God, and we will see the change take place in our lives. The love of God will become so evident in your life that it will draw people to you. You have something they don't have; the Lord Jesus Christ living on the inside of you. The giver of life! Praise the Lord!
