Weekly Reflection

This week, we looked at how love never fails, that love took action, that love makes a choice, and how faith works through love. Love is why Jesus came and gave himself as a ransom for all mankind. Love is why we can come to the Father and ask for forgiveness of all our sins, and be cleansed by the precious blood of Christ. Because of love, we are now reconciled, and our relationship has been restored to the Father. Praise God! We also learned that love is an action word. We find this in 1 John 3:18 (TPT) 'Beloved children, our love can't be an abstract theory we only talk about, but a way of life demonstrated through our loving deeds.' Anyone can say 'I love you,' but is it known by their actions? Especially to those outside the faith. Does this world 'see' love when they see us as followers of Jesus Christ? Remember what Jesus taught in Luke 6:27-28 'But I say to you who hear; love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.' I advise you to read Luke 6:27-36, because it is a powerful teaching from our Lord Jesus on how we should love. It will open your eyes and cause you to really examine your own heart on where you stand in your love walk. God demonstrated His love for us by sending the Lord Jesus Christ to die while we were yet sinners. Romans 5:6-9 (TPT) 'For when the time was right, the Anointed One came and died to demonstrate his love for sinners who were entirely helpless, weak, and powerless to save themselves. Now, who of us would dare to die for the sake of a wicked person? We can all understand if someone was willing to die for a truly noble person. But Christ proved God's passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly! And there is still much more to say of his unfailing love for us! For through the blood of Jesus we have heard the powerful declaration, "You are now righteous in my sight." And because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you will never experience the wrath of God.' Love made a choice and God chose us. We need to walk in love with everyone, and especially of the household of faith. Jesus said in John 13:34-35 'A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.' I'll sum it all up with what the Word says in 1 John 4:20-21 'If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.' Let us all work on loving each other as Christ has loved us. Unselfishly, and unconditionally. Let us all show forth the love of God. If the world can see this love, the love of Christ working in us and through us, then they will desire to know Him as well.
