We are one in Christ

Genesis 11: (AMPC) says 'And the whole earth was of one language and of one accent and mode of expression'. The KJV says 'And the whole earth was of one language and of one speech'. We should all know the story of the tower of Babel, but have we really understood how it came to be? This was a time where everyone had the same language, and spoke the same thing. The Bible makes it clear that they were in total unity. Now, look at verse 6 of Genesis 11. 'And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begon to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do'. These people got the Lord's attention because of their unity in speech and action. They were united in purpose and deed, and the Lord said that nothing would be restrained from them. Let's look at what the Word says about the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:3-6 says 'Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all'. Glory to God! Can you imagine just how powerful the body of Christ, not bodies, would be if all of us called by His name, would unite in one purpose. What is the purpose? Look at verse 13 of Ephesians 4. 'Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ'. Verse 14 and 15 sums up what I'm wanting to say. (TPT) 'And then our immaturity will end! And we will not be easily shaken by trouble, nor led astray by novel teachings or by the false doctrines of deceivers who teach clever lies. But instead we will remain strong and always sincere in our love as we express the truth. All our direction and ministries will flow from Christ and lead us deeper into Him, the anointed Head of his body, the church'.
