John 15:4-3 says 'Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.' We discussed yesterday, how we need to abide, or continue, or stay in God's Word. It's how we grow in Christ, and how we learn how to operate on this earth. Jesus was our example on this earth, and He said that He came to do His Father's will. We should be doing the will of the Father also by obeying the commands that Jesus gave us in His Word. Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. The Heavenly Father is the vinedresser (John 15:1-2), and every branch that does not produce fruit is cutoff and burned. The fruit of the vine is produced through the branches. The diseased and unproductive branches are cutoff so that the other branches do not become diseased and unproductive. The branches do not bear fruit of themselves, but of the vine. The branches are an extension of the vine, and bear the fruit of the vine. The branches that do produce fruit, are pruned so that they can produce more fruit. It's a never ending process, and we need to be producing the fruit of the vine. The only way this will happen is by abiding in the vine, the Lord Jesus Christ. Then you can operate in the fullness of Christ, which is what the Father desires. It's all about conforming to the Lord Jesus Christ, and as we abide in the vine, the fruit of the Spirit will become evident. Praise God for His glorious design!
