The Fruit of the Spirit - Peace

Colossians 3:15 says 'And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.' We get to choose if we have peace. This verse instructs us to 'let' the peace of God rule in our hearts, so it's a choice. Remember what Philippians 4:6-7 says? It tells us in verse 6 'Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.' Verse 7 says 'and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.' When we follow the direction of the Word of God, the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds through Christ! I prefer to walk with the Lord and have His peace rule in my heart, and allow the Holy Spirit to direct every aspect of my life! Jesus said in John 14:27 'Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.' Jesus left us His peace, and this is the peace that we need to allow to rule in our heart. One way you could do this is by following what the Word says in 1 Peter 5:6-7. The Word says 'Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.' God does not want you to carry burdens, heavy weights, and things that cause you to worry and be anxious. He wants to carry it all for you. Jesus bore our sicknesses and diseases, and carried the weight of all sin so we could be whole and redeemed. The only burden He wants us to have is for souls. Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came to give us life and that more abundantly! Give it all over to the Lord, and allow His peace to permeate your entire being! Once you experience His peace, you will never live any other way!
