Put on the New Man

2 Corinthians 7:1 says 'Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.' God has given Himself to us completely, and has washed our sins away by the precious blood of Christ. We need to walk in this newness of life, and put on the new man. Ephesians 4:22-24 says 'that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in righteousness and true holiness.' As we have discussed several times before, your spirit has been born again, but your mind has not. This is why the Word says to put off the old man with its former conduct which grows corrupt, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Remember Romans 12:2? 'And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.' It's all about conforming to Jesus, and after we are born again, there are some things required that we must do. As you read the Word every day, you will find that your thinking starts to change and it lines up with how God thinks. You start to see things the way God does. The mind has to be renewed to line up with what has happened in your spirit. You are a brand new creature in Christ; old things are passed away, behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). Galatians 5:24 says 'And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.' We must make daily decisions to crucify this flesh. Remember that Paul said that he dies daily in 1 Corinthians 15:31. The old man wants to rise up, but we must put him down and live according to the new man which is being conformed to the Lord Jesus Christ! This is why the Holy Spirit is so vital in a believer's life. He will teach you how to live according to the Word. He will teach you what the Word says and will help you in every area, but you must be willing and obedient. It's a choice, and the choice is yours. God will never force you, but He does know what is best. I can attest to that. He has totally changed my life and has me doing things that I never would be able to do without Him. Praise God! My life is nothing without Jesus! I don't know how I made it so long without Him. I must die daily myself, and there are days that I get up and ask the Lord what is the use? But the Holy Spirit is so gentle, and I am reminded of what Jesus has done in my life, and how He can change your life. If you knew the secret to life and you knew that it could save everyone, wouldn't you share it? I know the secret to life and how to live it abundantly, and His name is Jesus Christ! He bore my sickness, disease, poverty, sin, and cleansed me and reconciled me to God the Father! Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and I will not let Him down. He gives me the strength to overcome the temptations that come my way. He gives me the strength to get up in the morning and give Him praise for another opportunity to serve Him and to tell others about His love and forgiveness. What joy there is in serving, and walking with Jesus! There is no one like Jesus! There is nothing that can compare to His love! Nothing! If you don't know Him, you can. I promise you that you will never be the same again. Put off the old man. Walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus.
