Not Walking in Emotions

Galatians 5:24-25 says 'And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.' Notice that verse 24 says that we crucify our flesh. This can be done by allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us, and to show us what areas need to be cleansed, and it falls under one of the fruit of the Spirit called self-control. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is born from the Holy Spirit being in the lead in our lives, and it is part of being conformed to the Lord Jesus Christ. We need the Holy Spirit to help us when it comes to our flesh, because the flesh wants to be in charge. Our flesh is overly sensitive to it's passions and desires, and will do anything, if allowed, to do whatever it wants. This is why James talked about the tongue in James 3:5-12, and I strongly encourage you to read it. Without the help of the Holy Spirit, no man can tame the tongue (James 3:8). If you study this out, it talks about the natural man cannot tame the tongue. But a man or woman that is born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, and is reading the Word of God daily, and has a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ; you will be able to control your tongue. The Holy Spirit will speak to your heart and will let you know what is appropriate to speak and what is not. You will know because you are being conformed to Jesus Christ. It's a process, and you will make mistakes, but you will find that as you grow in the Lord, you will notice that your speech has changed, your actions have changed, and your thinking is lining up with what the Word says. You will not be ruled by your emotions but make decisions based on the Word. You become more stable. You will live a more full life, a more settled life, and the joy of the Lord will always be present. You will be able to face different situations with a peace that only comes from the Lord Jesus Christ and a confidence that no matter what happens, Jesus Christ is Lord and you walk in total victory! Praise the Lord!
