1 Corinthians 13:4 through the first part of 8 gives us a description of love. The TPT says 'Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one's achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. Love never stops loving.' We haven't seen much love over the past year, with all the rioting, hating, and accusations being thrown around. But the Word of God tells us in 1 John 3:18 (TPT) 'Beloved children, our love con't be an abstract theory we only talk about, but a way of life demonstrated through our loving deeds.' We must, as believes, walk in love with everyone. We can show the love of Christ by not screaming our opinions or our values to those who oppose what the Word of God teaches. Jesus said in Luke 6:27-28 'But I say to you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.' You really need to read verses 27 - 36. It's a powerful teaching from Jesus, and it will totally contradict what your flesh says, but it will minister to your heart. It's been hard for me not to speak out of anger because of the outright nastiness and perverse things that are being celebrated right now in this country. I have failed a few times in my love walk, but praise God for His mercy and forgiveness. We must walk in love and speak in love also. The Word says in Colossians 4:5-6 'Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.' Be different from those of this world. Let everything you say and do bring praise, glory and honor to the Lord Jesus. Love never fails!
