Lay Aside Every Weight

Hebrews 12:1-3 says 'Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.' Weight is defined as the amount or quantity of heaviness or mass. One of the weights that is evident is competition between churches. But what is the competition about? Having the most people. Having the largest building. Having the loudest or most current music. Notice, I haven't mentioned the move of the Holy Spirit, any new salvations, any baptizing in the Holy Spirit, healings, deliverances, and the list goes on. The Lord Jesus Christ is head of the church, and we as Christians are the body. The body should be attending to the things that the head has assigned. The body is attached to the head. We discussed at an earlier time that we are the body of Christ and should be about the Father's business. As the body of Christ, our church buildings should be focused on the deliverance of those in bondage. Healings for those that are hurting and are battling sickness, disease, and have lost hope. People need to know that there is hope, and we need to be worshipping, honoring, and praising the Lord together! That is the function of the church! To teach, and equip and empower, and to disciple people to the Lord Jesus Christ! So, let's lay aside the weight that holds us down and get to doing the Father's business. Praise the Lord!
