Mark 11:25-26 says 'And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.' Have you ever been so hurt that you yelled out at someone in anger saying, "I will never forgive you!" I've been extremely hurt in my past, but there is nothing on this planet that anyone can do to me that I cannot forgive them. Forgiveness is the beginning to salvation. What are we asking the Father for when we are confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord? Are we not asking the Father for forgiveness? When we make a mistake, do we not come to the Lord and ask His forgiveness? 1 John 1:9 says 'If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.' So, if we are expecting forgiveness, then why don't we forgive? Do we allow our pride to get in the way, and our flesh to dictate what is and is not acceptable? If God will forgive us of our sins then who are we to tell someone that has hurt us that we will not forgive them? I just gave you the scriptures that tell you if you do not forgive, then you will not be forgiven. Is it worth going to hell over our hurts? Do we allow our feelings to be the judge of God's Word? Yes, you can go to hell over un-forgiveness because then you are not forgiven. It's all about a heart condition. You ask the Lord Jesus Christ to come into your heart when you are born again, so you need to allow Him to be Lord of your life and help you through the hurt. There is no pain that cannot be healed by the Lord. 1 John 2:5-6 says 'But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.' Remember the paralytic in Mark chapter 2? In verse 5 Jesus said "Son, your sins are forgiven you." Galatians 5:6 says 'For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.' Love forgives. Love doesn't consider the wrong that has been done (read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8). If the Lord of glory Jesus Christ can forgive us, then we should also forgive. I just gave you the scripture that said that 'He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked' (1 John 2:6). If you have un-forgiveness in your heart, ask the Lord to help you with it. He can and he will. Trust me. Un-forgiveness will lead to bitterness, and that is a root that runs deep and cold and will lead you astray.
