Matthew 6:14-15 Jesus said 'For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.' Everyone, at some time or another, has needed forgiveness. We ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness when we ask Him to come into our heart and be Lord of our lives. But how many of us carry around bitterness or anger because we refuse to forgive someone who has hurt us. We just read where the Lord said that if we do not forgive, then we will not be forgiven. That is a dangerous place to be. If the Lord Jesus Christ is willing to forgive us for our sins, then who do we think we are to not forgive those who have wronged us? Are we better than Christ Jesus? There is nothing that someone has done to me that I cannot, nor will I refuse to forgive. This life is temporal, but eternity is everlasting. I would rather forgive and give the Lord the hurt and allow Him to cleanse me with healing, then spend eternity in hell just because I refused to forgive someone else. Am I better than Jesus? Am I more righteous than Jesus? I need the salvation that the Lord has died for because as the Word says in Isaiah 64:6 'But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.' Romans 3:10 says 'As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one.' We all need to accept the salvation that is offered through the blood of Jesus Christ. He offers forgiveness and redemption and salvation. Please learn to forgive. Ask the Lord to help you because He will. I know personally that He will. If you have unforgiveness in your heart, then lay it down at the foot of the cross. I promise you that you will never be the same. 1 John 1:9 says 'If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.' Forgive that you may be forgiven. Jesus Christ forgave you.
