Jesus said in John 15:4-5 'Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.' Another definition of fellowship is a friendly relationship or companionship. Abide means to continue in a particular condition, attitude, or relationship; to remain, or stay. Part of how we fellowship with Jesus is to continue in, remain or stay in Him. I cannot do without my Lord. How do you fellowship with another person? By spending time with them. How much more do we need to spend time with the Lord Jesus? He is the Life-Giver to all who will acknowledge Him as Lord, and accept His sacrifice for their sins. You will hear this a lot from me, but this is why it is vital to renew our minds to the Word of God. Our spirits have been reborn but not our minds. Our thinking must get in line with what the Word says, and how that is done is by spending time in the Word of God each and every day, and our thinking will line up with how God thinks. A renewed mind knows who it is in Christ, and in this day and age, it is extremely important to know who you are in Christ. Once you know this, then you will understand the authority that has been given to you through Christ. See how this works? Fellowship with the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. When you love someone, you want to spend time with them. You continually think about them and cannot wait to see them again. How much more should we want to spend quality time with the Lord of all. Remember what Jesus said in John 14:23? He said "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him." I know the Lord is with me and I plan on Him staying with me. I know the Word says He will never leave me nor forsake me, but I want Jesus knowing He is always welcome in our home, as well as the Father and the Holy Spirit. Praise God! Thank you Father that you have called us into fellowship with You and Your Son, Jesus Christ!
