We live in a fallen and cursed world, and it's because of Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden. God had instructed Adam that he could eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die (Genesis 2:16-17). Adam and Eve disobeyed, and because of this, the earth became cursed, and man had committed treason. God knew this was going to happen and already had a plan of redemption in place. Mankind needed a savior, and God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for us. John 3:16 says 'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.' When Adam was created, he was sinless. He had never sinned before he disobeyed God. The only way mankind could be saved is if a sinless man died in their place. This is where Jesus came in. Adam did not have an earthly father. God was his Father. The same with Jesus. A man did not father Him, but His Heavenly Father sent Him to take the punishment for sin in our place. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says 'For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.' Jesus took our sins and gave us His righteousness. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, reconciliation has taken place between mankind and God the Father. This is just how much God the Father loves us. Romans 5:8 says 'But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.' God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). God loves us so much that He was willing to sacrifice His only Son Jesus, so that we could live eternally with Him! God is not willing to live without us, so He paid the price for us. What an awesome God we serve!
